Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell

If I had not missed my flight to San Diego a couple of weeks ago (I arrived at the airport 2+ hours in advance) I still would not have witnessed two of our nation’s greatest symbols of freedom, The Liberty Bell and Independence Hall.

Having missed my 7:30am flight, the nice folks at the airline re-booked me for a 4pm flight. Not a great way to start a vacation, but we decided to make the best of it, and we took advantage of our proximity to these 2 great historic treasures. The story of the Liberty Bell is cool, and certainly compelling, but I got goosebumps once inside Independence Hall. Just to be inside this building where Ben Franklin, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and George Washington created and gave birth to our country is awesome.  Wow!  It was my first visit, but it will not be my last.  If I were not concerned about missing my 4pm flight, I would have also taken in the National Constitution Center, just steps away from the Liberty Bell.
